This week, we are celebrating teachers from across the QCSD for Teacher Appreciation Week! Join the celebration and send a kind note to your QE teacher, past or present, and we’ll make sure they receive it! You may even see it posted here, like this kind message for Mrs. Germani from one of her kindergarteners:

"Mrs. Germani is truly sunshine in human form. We are so grateful that our daughter had her for her first year in school. She makes learning fun and engaging and makes every child feel special. My daughter is excited every single day to go to school, and Mrs. Germani plays a huge role in that. She is the most whimsical, kind, compassionate, and hardworking teacher, and we are forever blessed that our daughter had the pleasure of being her student! All of QE’s teachers and staff go above and beyond. My daughter feels the love from all the staff she encounters in the building every day."
-Millie & her family, Kindergarten

The Kindergarteners at QE are currently learning about the Lakota Sioux—the indigenous people of the Great Plains, and how the buffalo were essential to their survival and spiritual life. They learned that the buffalo were their primary source of food, clothing, and shelter. Students created teepees made of sticks and canvas and created artwork to decorate the halls of QE.

“Meet The Instruments Night” and parent meeting will be held Tuesday April 21st from 6-7:00pm at Strayer Middle School. This event is for any student who might like to learn a musical instrument next year in the band and orchestra program! (Current band and orchestra students do not need to attend this event unless you are considering learning a new instrument.)

At "Meet the Instruments Night" your child will get to try out their top 3 instrument choices before you enroll in the program and get an instrument for them. Parents will also learn more about the QCSD band and orchestra program, get to meet the teachers, learn about instrument rentals, and ask any questions.

You must pre-register for this event, so we will know our anticipated attendance and can provide the correct amount of supplies (mouthpieces, reeds, etc.).

Please click the link below to register:

*Registering for “Meet The Instruments Night” does not enroll your child in the program. It simply allows the students an opportunity to try out the instruments before you rent, purchase, or borrow an instrument.

If you have questions, please contact your school’s music teacher. Visit qcsd.org/music and click the CONTACT page to find their contact information.

There’s an instrument for everyone, we just need to find the right fit for your child!

Happy Read Across America Week!

Thank you to Quakertown Elementary 2nd grader – Gabby – for sharing her book recommendation, "A Bad Case of Stripes,” by David Shannon.

“My favorite part is when she turns into a gumball machine!” said Gabby, and she immediately showed the illustration. Gabby explained that the story centers around a little girl named Camilla Cream, who loves lima beans but doesn’t want to eat them. And as a result, she starts turning colors! “My other favorite part of the book is when she grows a cat tale!”

Thank you Gabby for sharing your love of “A Bad Case of Stripes” with us.
