Dear QE Parents and Guardians,

I’m reaching out because the forecasted temperatures and heat index for tomorrow is concerning, especially as we consider the lack of air conditioning and ventilation at Quakertown Elementary School.   The prolonged exposure to the heat tomorrow is concerning and it can cause heat-related illness such as dehydration, heat exhaustion, or heat stroke, which is something that we would all like to avoid. Therefore, in anticipation, and to ensure safe and healthy school environments for our students and staff, QCSD district administration in collaboration with QE administration, has decided to make schedule adjustments for QE.

With this in mind, QE will have an early dismissal day tomorrow, Wednesday, August 28, at 11:30 AM.

Here’s the plan for tomorrow (Wednesday, August 28):

  • Breakfast will be served as usual for all students who arrive between 8:50 AM and 9:05 AM.

  • Students will receive a bagged lunch to take home with them.

  • Schoolhouse Learning, LifeSpan, and the Goddard School have been contacted and they will be able to accommodate our regularly scheduled students earlier as a result of the early dismissal.

  • Bus riders will be picked up by Levy’s at 11:30 AM.  Bus letters will go out to impacted families for transportation purposes this evening.  If you don’t receive a letter, please reach out to Brooke Renninger at brenninger@qcsd.org.

Thanks for your time!  If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
