In the event that your son/daughter is absent from school, we would ask that you do
the following:

  1. Notify the school office by 9:00 AM each day your child is absent. (215-529-2410)
  2. Give the reason for your child's absence.

If you do not notify the office by 9:00 AM, we will call you to verify the absence.
*PLEASE NOTE: A written excuse is still required when absent or tardy.

When your child is absent from school, it is his/her responsibility for picking up their homework at school.
Homework will be sent home with other students (neighbors or friends) only if you request it. It is then your responsibility to make arrangements with the other students to pick up the homework at his/her home. Requests for homework should be made to the school before 9:00 AM.
If your child is absent for an extended period of time, completed assignments should be returned to the school, to be corrected, every other day whenever possible.

If you are planning a vacation during the school year and your child will be absent, it is your responsibility to notify the school by picking up a blue trip form at the office. This form must be submitted to the Principal a minimum of ten school days prior to your departure. Parents/guardians will be notified in any case in which the request is denied.

Requests will be approved only if it can be determined that such trip is of educational value to the student. Unless there are unusual or emergency circumstances, such requests will NOT be approved for the first ten (10) school days of the year.

No more than five (5) school days per year will be approved for educational trip requests. (Special requests with unusual circumstances or exceptional opportunities for learning should be discussed personally with the building principal well in advance of the requested dates for absence.)

It is your child's responsibility to complete all assignments before returning to school. Satisfactory academic achievement will be considered in the approval of such a request. Some children can afford to be absent, others cannot. You may want to discuss this with your child's teacher before planning your trip.

Please be sure to keep the school informed of any changes in emergency information (i.e.: home telephone number, cell phones, address, employer, etc.).

Also, remember to send in a note if you are picking up your child early or if he/she is going home a different way than the usual routine. It is important that a parent sign the note. Please cooperate with us in providing a safe and secure place for our children.
